                           The Last Leaf
                              by O. Henry

The story you are about to read is all about bearing hope and passion in life. When circumstances come, we cannot stand alone and yet there are person who are willingly lends us a helping hand. Even though it is not quite possible, but we assured that we gladly did our best and done all necessary things with the aid of our companion.

This story is essential to the passionate and all aspiring painter. Not only for that, but also for those who are warm-hearted and greatly shows the connection between art and life. As Johnsy who has pneumonia, she cannot just go outside to look and roam with her friend Sue. So, she was in her room watching nearby places and sees a tree. It is big and beautiful though. She imagined weird things and longing to be filled with joy. She tells Sue that if all the leaves were gone, she will also die. Sue went to Behrman (an old man) to ask a favor. Behrman was glad to accept the opportunity to help Johnsy and prove to himself that it was never too late to change. He then finished his sacrificial work, labeled as his masterpiece.

   We can never find a master, but it is in oneself on how he/she live and find his/her meaning in life. Bearing challenges and difficulties, that even though we may be a failure to what we are doing. But, it is important to gain much more hope and meaning in life. That old man Behrman always longed to paint something, yet he has done his first and last painting, which is “The Last Leaf”. The last leaf gives them hope and find what significant things to do are. Unfortunately, the old man died due to heavy rain but he was passionate to do things on the last line that he had. Also, the sacrifice he made was greatly a help to the two young lady to deeper their relationship.
