The Last Leaf
By: O. Henry (1862-1910)

This story The Last Leaf written by O. Henry is a good story since it explains a life of a sick woman named Johnsy who has pneumonia, Imagining very unique and weird fantasies. O. Henry uses very deep words and meanings in this story for me which is very difficult to understand, but I still got the message of the story when I still kept reading, also I searched for the difficult terms to help understand the story better.

This story is about Johnsy who has a sickness of pneumonia, while she is recovering she is imagining fantasies and weird things that when the tree loses its leaves she will die.Their neighbor Mr. Behrman a old man and an artist painted the last leaf which and he died of pneumonia after painting his masterpiece while Johnsy recovered from pneumonia. This story I great, its just very hard to understand the terms tat are certainly understood by some people but with a little help from searching I somehow got the meaning of the story.

This story in overall is great, it helps you to make your vocabulary improve or be better in understanding difficult terms or statements. Somehow you can relate to this story that we, also sick or not sick experience imagining very weird things or amazing things that are out of this world. Overall I rate this story great. It helps improve the way you see things in life, makes us aware of how hard life is. Through this story it makes our way of thinking, we tend to make choices that are best for our situations in life. No matter what happens we must always find the will and reason to live no matter what happens. Don’t give up on yourself trust in God’s plans, someone will always be there for you.

His literary piece has the themes of health— the sudden outbreak pneumonia, and sacrifice— the showcase of a selfless act made by Behrman and Sue’s willpower to save Johnsy. There are a lot of lessons a person could get from the story, I can say that it is truly effective and moving. Took place in a little district west of Washington Square...

Henry, a story that depicts the morbidity of death and of the fancies that come with the idea of it. The story focuses on Johnsy, a starving artist who focuses on the idea of leaving this world by the means of blowing away like a leaf because of a strong gust of wind, which is further exemplified by the main character; willing herself to death, waiting for the final leaf to fall, so that she can finally go to eternal rest. The characters have shown individuality and showcased their own ideologies when it came to death, like how Old Behrman believes that wishing death upon oneself is simply foolish. Johnsy also shows how much she contrasts this idea by her fancies of finally leaving the material earth, mostly affected by the sickness it made her delusional and started imagining herself what the world would be like if she were dead. It i...
