"The Last Leaf" by O. Henry Critical Analysis of Lopez

Optimism and Hope A Critique Paper of Symbolic Interpretation of  the Short Story “The Last Leaf” by O. Henry  by Alyanna May M. Lopez of 11-Onesta This short story is made by William Sydney Porter, with his famous pen name, O. Henry. William Sydney Porter is an American short story writer famous for his stories with surprise endings and plot twists. Another well-known aspect of his short stories is the characteristic of showing coincidence to ordinary life and common people using wits, humor, and grim. “The Last Leaf” does not stray far from the stated description. A Critical Analysis That Will Leaf You In Awe by: Juan Paolo M. Amanquiton The narrative literature, “The Last Leaf” is a splendid story. It teaches a very wonderful lesson to everyone. The story revolves around three main characters: Sue, Johnsy and Mr. Berhman. The three played a really big part in the story. Sue is the really caring and loving friend of Johnsy. Johnsy played as the sick and depressed friend who had no will to live. Mr. Berhman played as the really helpful and kind neighbor. Throughout the story, it got interesting because of Johnsy’s depressed and sad remarks to Sue. After awhile in the story, Sue told Mr. Berhman about everything, where Mr. Berhman thought that Johnsy’s remarks and thoughts about the last leaf was dumb. Which was true, I guess. Why whould you let the leaves control when you die? But we all have ways on coping up with things.
