A Critical Analysis That Will Leaf You In Awe
by: Juan Paolo M. Amanquiton
The narrative literature, “The Last Leaf” is a splendid story. It teaches a very wonderful lesson to everyone. The story revolves around three main characters: Sue, Johnsy and Mr. Berhman. The three played a really big part in the story. Sue is the really caring and loving friend of Johnsy. Johnsy played as the sick and depressed friend who had no will to live. Mr. Berhman played as the really helpful and kind neighbor. Throughout the story, it got interesting because of Johnsy’s depressed and sad remarks to Sue. After awhile in the story, Sue told Mr. Berhman about everything, where Mr. Berhman thought that Johnsy’s remarks and thoughts about the last leaf was dumb. Which was true, I guess. Why whould you let the leaves control when you die? But we all have ways on coping up with things. With that, Mr. Berhman helped by painting a leaf on the wall where the vines are were growing, across the window of Johnsy’s room. Which was very sweet and kind of him, despite putting his life and health on the line, which also caused his death, he will be remembered as someone who did good.
There is one thing though about Mr. Berhman; it’s his way of speaking. He has a weird accent or a weird way of speaking. The way he says words, made it a lot harder for me to understand. He said some words I really never understood. But despite those things, he’s still a good person.
To end this, the story is really great to read, it teaches a lesson. I would recommend others to read it as well, I rate it as a 9 out of 10! I really liked how it teaches people to be really kind, no matter what you’re financial standing is. Anyone can do good if wanted to.
