critical analysis - Manto

Name: Liacer Muldez Manto 11-Onesta The Last Leaf The short story that I read was entitled “The Last Leaf” by O. Henry (1862-1910). The story was beautiful and I love it, the story shows how Sue loved her friend Johnsy that she could do everything for her friend (Johnsy) even though Johnsy was already loses her hope to live in this world. It seems so weird that Johnsy was waiting for the last leaf to fall and she will go also, but in the case of Johnsy it was not weird for she is depending her life to that leaf and may be that ivy vine is giving her happiness. There are times that other people finds us weird because of what we do or because of the things that can make us happy, but they do not know the real reason why it makes us happy or contented they will never knew for each one of us has his/her own unique personality. That is what I saw in Johnsy’s situation, I know that she will be upset if that leaf will gone for it was her last hope. In this story, also we can see...

"The Last Leaf" by O. Henry, A Critical Analysis of Catherine Casio

The Hidden Meaning of the Last Leaf by Catherine Casio of Grade 11 Onesta' “The Last Leaf” a short story by O. Henry, a pen name of William Sydney Porter, is an amazing story for it tells such a wonderful message about life and different struggles. His main point is how we should treasure and value life as our own destiny and journey. The flow of the study is unprecedented, and that is what makes it unique. The author showed a different kind of perspective when it comes to viewing life and death situations. From the title, you would never know that what lies behind it was something deep and significant. The story began with an imaginative place where artistic views lie, and how simple it can be. Johnsy, the girl affected by pneumonia, awaits her death - which she believed is through the judgment of the leaves on the ivy vine. She patiently stares at the leaves as it falls one by one. Sue, her friend, on the other hand, believed that the leaves have nothing to do with John...

Critical Analysis: The Last Leaf by: O. Henry (Yap)

Khrissarah Charlize M. Yap 11-Onesta (HUMSS) The Last Leaf By: O. Henry “The Last Leaf” is a short story written by O. Henry, a story that depicts the morbidity of death and of the fancies that come with the idea of it. The story focuses on Johnsy, a starving artist who focuses on the idea of leaving this world by the means of blowing away like a leaf because of a strong gust of wind, which is further exemplified by the main character; willing herself to death, waiting for the final leaf to fall, so that she can finally go to eternal rest. The characters have shown individuality and showcased their own ideologies when it came to death, like how Old Behrman believes that wishing death upon oneself is simply foolish. Johnsy also shows how much she contrasts this idea by her fancies of finally leaving the material earth, mostly affected by the sickness it made her delusional and started imagining herself what the world would be like if she were dead. It i...
